CROFTON, Ky. – Richard Otis Stroud, 79, of Crofton, KY passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 11:30 p.m. at his home.

Mr. Stroud was born January 30, 1934 in Bremen. He was a logger and member of Knobbs Church of God of Prophecy in Rumsey. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran. He loved old country music, outdoor activities, baseball and UK basketball, playing guitar, and logging.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Claircy Higgs Stroud; brothers Clifford Stroud, William Stroud, James Stroud, and Charles Stroud; and sisters Rachel Markwell, Barbara Jones, and Elizabeth Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Viola Stroud; daughters Buffy Stroud of Crofton and Tammy Bales of Dayton, OH; sons Cody Stroud of Crofton and Copy Stroud of Hopkinsville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brothers Raymond Stroud and Laster Stroud.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. J.W. Haire officiating, assisted by Rev. Nathan Baize. Burial will follow in Gish Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday after 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
