OWENSBORO, Ky. - Bobbie Leon Slaton, Sr., 74, of Owensboro, KY passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at his home. He was born on November 21, 1938 in Muhlenberg Co., KY to the late Frank and Shirley Vaughan Slaton. Bobbie was a member of Owensboro Church of Christ and retired from the former Green River Electric Co-Op (now Kenergy). He enjoyed photography and was a member of the Owensboro Photography Club and also enjoyed coon hunting and was a member of the Daviess Co. Coon Hunters Club. He previously coached Little League baseball at Pleasant Ridge. He also enjoying hunting, fishing, and archery. He, along with his wife, formerly owned and operated Slaton Country Crafts. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Sandra Mehlbauer Slaton, three sons: Bobbie Slaton, Jr. of Louisville, Casey Slaton of St. Augustine, FL, and Tony (Kristie) Howell of Calhoun, four daughters: Tenya Slaton of Frankfort, Carla (Hubert) Goodman of Beaver Dam, Marla (Patrick) Graham of Palatka, FL, and Shelley (James) Morton of Lebanon, OH, 13 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a sister: Sherry (Paul Jake) Wilson of Stanley.
A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, June 15, at Owensboro Church of Christ with Jimmy Bunch officiating. There will be time to visit with the family after 11:00 A.M. at the church on Saturday.
