owensboro public schoolsOWENSBORO, Ky. (7/15/13) – Hager Preschool has announced that they have several tuition openings available for the 2013-2014 school year.
Sherry Baber, Pre-school Coordinator at Hager Preschool, said in an interview on Monday that the preschool will allow students to apply who do not meet the income guidelines for Kentucky Preschool as well as other regulations. These tuition paying students will pay $175.00 a month for ten months, however, according to Baber, families who pay for a whole semester or year at once would receive a small discount.
The tuition paying applicants will reside in the Owensboro Public School District, and will be at least three years of age by Oct. 1.
According to the Kentucky Preschool program website, Kentucky's preschool education programs are available for all four-year-old children whose family income is no more than 150 percent of poverty; all three and four-year-old children with developmental delays and disabilities, regardless of income; and other old children as placements are available based on district decision. The preschool program is designed to be developmentally appropriate for young children. "Developmentally appropriate" is defined in law to mean that the program focuses on the child's physical, intellectual, social and emotional development, including interpersonal, intrapersonal, and socialization skills.
The application process, according to Baber, is quite lengthy. Prospective students must have immunization records, a physical, an original birth certificate (it cannot be a photocopy from the hospital), a copy of an insurance or K-Chip card, a copy of their social security card, lead testing results, and a Kentucky Vision Exam performed by a state licensed Optometrist.
