•1968 - Mick Jagger & Marianne Faithful busted for pot, released on £50 bail
•1969 - "Love Story" actress Ali MacGraw (30) weds film producer Robert Evans (39)
•1991 - Gene Roddenberry, the creator of the Star Trek series, dies of cardiac arrest at age 70
•1994 - Raul Julia, actor (Addams Family), dies of stroke at 54
•1995 - A total solar eclipse occurs in Southwest Asia (2 minutes and 9 seconds)
•2002 - Police arrest spree killers John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo, ending the Beltway sniper attacks in the area around Washington, DC
•2005 - Rosa Parks, "the first lady of civil rights" (b. 1913) died of natural causes at the age of 92
