surfky bb1OWENSBORO, Ky, (11/19/13) - Last year, Catholic's boys' basketball record was 15 - 19 and lost in the Regional Championship to Ohio County. This year, Owensboro Catholic will be a younger team with Ryan Clark standing as the only senior on the team.

This will be Boys Head Basketball Coach Ben Murphy's fifth year with the Aces. Since Owensboro Catholic's sports must share players, Murphy has been without some of his best players due to the players being contributors on the football team. Owensboro Catholic has been without a couple of starters — senior Ryan Clark, Juniors Jansen Riney and Bailey Maloney, and sophomore
Ray Zuberer.

"We have taken this opportunity to work with the freshman," Coach Murphy said. "This does allow the underclassmen to see how I coach and it will prepare them for whenever they are called up."

Owensboro Catholic's football team lost to Murray last Friday, so Murphy will have his players starting Monday.

Even though Region 3 is loaded with talent this year, Coach Murphy believes his team has the talent to compete. The Aces look to return to the Regional Championship for the second straight season.

Owensboro Catholic will open at home Dec. 2 against South Spencer, Ind.
