MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. - Carol Jane Brown Mayes, 86, of Central City, Ky passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. She was born on Feb. 8, 1927, in Muhlenberg County. She was retired inspector with General Electric and was a member of Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Taylor and Rethel Brown, and a sister, Dolly Brown Pittman.

She is survived by her sister, Ruby Brown Garst of Central City; nieces Pat (Pete) Purcell, Dianne Fuqua, Darlene Pittman and Susan Harlan; nephew Randall (Patsy) Garst; great-nieces Staci (Kyle) Springer, Mindy (Lee) Bivens, Melissa (Toby) Harris, Nancy (Paul) Bates, Carrie Wilkerson, Andrea (Rich) Busch; great-nephews Jason Harlan and Andy Purcell; 12 great-great nieces and great-great-nephews.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen with the Brother Bill Bursztynski officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and also after 9 a.m. Monday at the church. Online condolences can be made at www.tucker
