tacoHOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (2/19/14) — The Salvation Army’s Women’s Home League will host an “Authentic Taco Dinner,” from 5:30 to 7 p.m.  Tuesday, March 4.

The inaugural event will be held at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, 313 E. Seventh Street in downtown Hopkinsville.

The $5 price includes two tacos, refried beans, rice, dessert and a drink. Diners also will receive a raffle ticket for prizes donated by the commu-nity.

“We are excited to showcase our programs supported by the Women’s League. Fundraisers such as this allow us to provide school supplies and help fund attendees to Youth Councils, Summer Camp and Women’s Camp,” said Salvation Army Capt. Sherry Czanderna. “In 2012, the League hosted 22 children and 91 in 2013. We expect the number to in-crease to more than 100 this year.”

Cooks for the taco dinner are mothers of the 30 children who attend the SA Youth Night from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday evenings as well as members of the Salvation Army Church.

The church holds a bilingual service at 11 a.m. on Sunday mornings and encourages area residents of all ethnic backgrounds to worship together.
