Upon arrival it was discovered that William Wiist, of Evansville, Ind., was operating a 2001 Ford Ranger, his wife, Pamela Wiist, was a passenger.
As Mr. Wiist was traveling southbound in the left lane in the area of the 46 mile marker, a red car which was also southbound in the right lane came into Mr. Wiist’s lane of travel. This caused Mr. Wiist to go off the left shoulder of the road. Mr. Wiist then came back onto the road and overcorrected, traveled through both lanes south bound and went off the far right side of the road, causing the Ranger to roll over down an embankment.
The Ranger came to its final rest on its top. The red car was never found by law enforcement. Mr. and Mrs. Wiist were transported by Med Center to Baptist Health for non-life threatening injuries. The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted by the Kentucky State Police and Madisonville Fire Department.
