Hugh Franklin Moore, 80, of Sacramento

hugh franklin mooreSACRAMENTO, Ky. – Hugh Franklin Moore, 80, of Sacramento passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 at his residence in Sacramento, Ky. Hugh was born in Sacramento, Ky. on November 28, 1933 to Wendell Wickliffe and Elva Esteen Rickard Moore. He started school at Sacramento High School in 1941. After he graduated high school he joined the US Marine Corps. Mr. Moore worked at various jobs, the last being Peabody Coal Company at Sinclair Mines where he worked 20 years and retired. He loved his garden and peach orchard. He loved to pick and deliver his peaches, tomatoes and corn to special friends. Mr. Moore was an avid reader and loved to watch UK basketball and baseball. His passion was always Quill hunting. Early mornings you would find him with friends at Sacramento Bluejay Café. He was Poppa a short while to little Taylor Rickard.

He was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin Allen Moore on March 12, 1960 and a brother, Cary Moore of McGee, Miss.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Shirley Miller Gossett Moore of Sacramento; son, Ronnie Franklin Moore of Island, Ky.; daughter, Theresa Moore Corpus of Island, Ky. and her children, Stacy and Brandon Watt; daughter, Tara Moore Stewart of Shrevesport, La.; step-children he loved like his own, Belinda Ashton of Sacramento, Jennifer Gossett of Sacramento, Susie Hooker of Madisonville, Chuck Gossett of Sacramento and Kenny Gossett of Sacramento; brother, Dillas (Diann) Moore of Falkville, Ala.

He was a special Poppa to Jonathon Rickard. He loved and was loved by many special people through the years, too numerous to mention but they know who they are.

Graveside services will be on Wednesday June 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Poplar Grove Cemetery in Sacramento, Ky. with Rev. Jesse Johnson officiating.
