thanksHOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (7/31/14) — To Chief Wade and to all the men and women on the Madisonville Police Department and the Citizens Police Academy, I would like to thank you for an outstanding job this week at the Hopkins County fair.

The Madisonville Police Department has a program we used at the fair. It is the Fingerprinting Program for the children of Hopkins County. The Police Department had a booth set up at the fair to fingerprint children and the Citizens Police Academy worked at the booth from July 22-26.

With this program we fingerprinted the children, the parents filled out a form with their names and all other information, and a lock of their hair and a picture were put in a zip-lock bag. Parents were asked to put the zip-lock bag in the freezer at home and keep it there so that if the police need it they have it to find the child.

I understand last year the police with the help of the Citizens Police Academy, fingerprinted 1200 children. I hope we pass the 1200 mark this year. I would like to thank the Hopkins County Fair Board, Chief Wade, the men and women of the Madisonville Police Department and the Citizens Police Academy for making this program a success. Also I would like to thank the managers of Kroger, Sure-Way, Market Place, the Sub-ways and Papa John's for the good food.

So to the citizens of Hopkins County, when you are out and see a Police Officer, Fireman or any person that is there to help us night and day, go up to them and shake their hand and say 'Thank you.'
