MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY - Thurman Dean McDonald, 89, of Greenville passed away Friday, November 4, 2011 at 10:05 PM at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Born September 16, 1922 in Muhlenberg County he was a retired Postal Service worker for Evansville, Indiana. Mr. McDonald was a member of Duvall's Chapel General Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He is also a former member and Deacon of Garvinwood General Baptist Chuch in Evansville. He is a Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Air Force in China, Burma, India, Theater. His Decorations and Citations include the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, and Victory Medal World War II.
He is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 66 years Ruth McDonald (Oct. 29, 2009), his parents, Elbert and Bessie McDonald, and four brothers, Ishmael, Clifford, J.W., and Hayden.
He is survived by a son, Thurman David "Porntip" McDonald of Bethesda, Maryland; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Terry) LeClair, Tamara McDonald, and Natalie McDonald; two great grandchildren, Hunter and Trevor LeClair; two brothers, Shelby Leon (Patricia) McDonald of Princeton,KY and Legon (Wilda Faye) McDonald of Greenville; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Dr. Curtis Yarbrough offficiating and Rev. Larry Shadowen assisting. Entombment will follow in Oak Hill Mausoleum in Evansville. Visitation will be held after 5:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com
