ymca2 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (9/1/14) — In conjunction with the Madisonville 9/11 Heroes Run, the Hopkins County Family YMCA will host a 9/11 Heroes Meet and Greet from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at 150 YMCA Drive, Madisonville sports fields .

Air Evac Lifeteam, Madisonville Fire Department, Madisonville Police Department, Medical Center Ambulance Service and PHI Air Medical Helicopter will have representatives at the Meet and Greet. Vehicles and apparatus will also be onsite for tours, including helicopters, ambulances, police cruisers and fire trucks.

“The Hopkins County Family YMCA is excited to be able to host a First Responders Meet and Greet in conjunction with the 9/11 Heroes Run packet pick-up on Sept. 5,” said YMCA Senior Director Kelly Forbes. “This is a great opportunity for families to come out and meet those who protect our community on a daily basis.”

Last year, more than 700 people participated in the Madisonville 9/11 Heroes Run. $12,800 was invested back into the local community. This year’s race proceeds will be split among the Travis Manion Foundation and the Patrick Rudd Project. The Patrick Rudd Project assists Hopkins County First Responder agencies and departments through Everyday Heroes mini grants for equipment and training.
