Dorothy Mae Alexander Woods, 88, of Central City

5flowerCENTRAL CITY, KY - Dorothy Mae Alexander Woods, 88, of Central City passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Maple Manor Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Greenville.

The Muhlenberg County native was a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church of Central City. She sang in the senior choir. She loved gardening and serving the community in any way possible. She was a lifetime member of the NAACP which included her active involvement in the march on Washington during the lifetime of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Survivors include one son, Curtis (Oneida) Shelton of Central City; two grandchildren, Marsha Shelton and Curtis (Pamela) Shelton; two great-grandchildren, Tia Shelton and Lake Shelton; one sister-in-law, Clara Bell of Alexander, Ind.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, distant relatives and friends.

Services are at noon Tuesday at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, Central City. Burial is in West End Cemetery, Greenville. The Rev. Otis Cunningham is officiating. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Bibbs Funeral Home, Greenville, is in charge of arrangements.
