MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY - Norman Ray Vick, 78, of Elkton, went to be with our Lord Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Mr. Vick was born October 6, 1933 in Muhlenberg County. He was a retired mechanic with Montgomery Ward and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving overseas. He was a member of Richardson Chapel General Baptist Church and loved his pastor T.H. (Shirley) Davis very much. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans where he was honored with several Bronze Leader awards. He was a member of the American Legion, and also was awarded a certificate as a Kentucky Colonel and was presented an award by the American Heart Association. He has been a Notary Public for many years. He is loved very much by his family, friends, and his friend Lola Wells and housekeeper, Pam, and will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Bobbie Jo Crick Vick; parents Robert and Vollie Mae Vick; brothers Robert Jr., Paul, and Ralph; and sisters Ruby Nell and Kathrine Jean Stelzrid.
Survivors include his daughters, Norma (Ken) Shepherd of Tuscan, AZ, Doris Randolph of Central City, Teresa Allen of Nelson Creek, Linda (Danny) Randolph of Central City, and Shannon (William) Walker of Greenville; sons Harold Vick of Cleaton, Darrell Vick of Drakesboro, David Vick of Greenville, Brad Vick (fiancee' Kimberly Smith) of Eddyville, and Chris Vick; sister Anna Ruth Gill of Clarksville, TN, brother Troyce (Louise) Vick of LaPorte, IN; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 2:00PM at Emberry General Baptist Church, with Rev. T.H. Davis officiating. Burial in Emberry Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday after 5:00PM and Sunday from 8:00-10:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Mr. Vick will lie in state at Emberry General Baptist Church after 1:00PM on Sunday.
