Juanita Profitt Potter, age 86, of Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, KY - Juanita Profitt Potter, age 86, of Bowling Green, passed away Saturday, November 3 at 7:00 am at Chandler Park Assisted Living Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

She was the widow of Judge Henry J. Potter Jr. They were married on August 21, 1946 until his death on June 3, 2008, after almost 62 years of marriage. She was born September 1, 1926 in Bowling Green, to the late Troy Calvin and Fairy Snell Profitt. She attended Barren River Elementary School and was a graduate of Bowling Green High School Class of 1944. She was a long time member of the First Christian Church. Juanita and Henry had two sons, Warren District Judge Brent J. Potter and his wife Sandra of Bowling Green, and Gary J. Potter who preceded them in death on April 9, 1965 as the result of injuries sustained as a passenger in an automobile accident his Senior year at Bowling Green High.

Juanita worked for the Park City Daily News until moving to Nashville to work as Head Proofreader for R.L. Polk Publishing Co. to help fulfill Henry’s dream of attending Vanderbilt University School of Law, before they returned home to Bowling Green.

She is also survived by her three beloved grandsons, Brandon, Justin and Ryan Potter of Bowling Green. Her sister-in-law Jane Hall of Loomis, Ca. a brother-in-law, Nat D. Potter of Spring, Texas. Her nephews, Warren District Judge Sam C. Potter Jr. , Mark Hall, and Sean Potter, her nieces, Marla Hall Pingree and Haley Potter. She is also survived by several great nieces and great nephews, along with her extended family and friends at Chandler Park Assisted Living.

Friends may call on the family from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, November 6 and after 11:00 am Wednesday, November 7 at the J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J.C. Kirby and Son Funeral Chapels.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the First Christian Church, or the charity of your choice.
