BOWLING GREEN, KY - Ray Edwin Johnson went home to be with the Lord at 4:40 a.m. on Monday, December 10 at his home He was 76 years old. A Hardin County native, Ray was the son of the late Albert and Pauline Johnson and was also preceded in death by one brother, Larry Johnson.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Sarah; his daughter, Pamela Felts and her husband, Donald, and their two daughters, Karlie Rae and Emma Brooke. Also a stepdaughter and stepson Jennifer Triplett and Mark Triplett and his wife, Pat from Tennessee, and stepdaughter, Gayle Pava of Bowling Green and her three sons. Also survived by two sisters, Carole Cook and her husband, Wendell of Elizabethtown; and Linda Tweedy and her husband Donald of Bowling Green. Also, a sister-in-law Nancy Calvert and several nieces and nephews survive.
Ray graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Masters Degree in Agriculture and then attended North Carolina State where he received his PhD. He worked at the University of Illinois for several years and then began his 30-year tenure at Western Kentucky University moving up the ladder quickly to become Professor of Agriculture and also served as Acting Department Head. After retiring from WKU in 1997, he enjoyed getting back to cows, farming, traveling, and quality time with friends and family; especially his precious grandchildren and wife.
We acknowledge the tremendous care and support given through Hospice and Home Instead caregivers. Sarah is especially grateful for the hand of the Lord in every facet of her dear husband's journey over the weeks, months and years. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday December 13, at White Stone Quarry Baptist Church, 2764 Blue Level Road for those who cannot attend on Friday, also visitation will be on Friday, December 14 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the church with memorial service at 1:00 p.m.

Johnnie Jenkins, Pastor Emeritus of Cornerstone Community Church in Wadsworth, Illinois and Pastor Ed Goodman of White Stone Quarry Baptist Church will be officiating. Hardy & Son Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
