BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Harold (Hal) G. Oney, age 79, of Bowling Green, KY passed away at his home in Bowling Green, KY, on December 23, 2012.
Hal was born and raised in Salyersville, KY, and has resided in Bowling Green since 1969. Hal was a retired Electronics Technician with the Federal Aviation Agency. He began his career with the FAA in Whitesburg, KY and retired after 45 years of service at the Bowling Green Airport. He was a Kentucky Colonel and proudly served his country as a US Army serviceman in the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gardner and Opal Oney, of Salyersville, KY, and one brother, S.V. Oney, of Newport News, VA. As a very devoted husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Nancy Dickenson Oney, and three sons, Brian Keith Oney, Kevin Duane Oney, both of Bowling Green, KY, and Eric Eugene Oney and wife, Krista, of White House, TN, and one daughter, Pamela Lynn Orr, of White House, TN. Five grandchildren, Scott Oney, Jacob Orr, Austin Orr, Emily Oney, and Landon Oney. One brother, Lowell, of Chillicothe, OH, and three sisters, Wilma Faye Adams, of Columbus, OH, Sandra Say of Chillicothe, OH, and Gail Prater, of Salyersville, KY. He was well-loved by his friends and members of his community.
Visitation will be held at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel on Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral service is Friday, December 28, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Turner officiating. Burial will be at Bowling Green Gardens. Children and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
