BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Glenn J. Gentry, age 85, of Alvaton, Ky passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at an area nursing home.
The Warren Country native was born on November 17, 1927 to the late Bennie and Olean Jones Gentry and his step mother; Nell Gentry, and was preceded in death by his wife; Mary Sullivan Gentry, and was also preceded by one sister; Phyllis Jones, and a son-in-law; Randy Patton, he was a member of the Bay’s Fork Baptist Church, he was a truck driver for Campbell’s Market and produce, and was retired from Fry’s Grocery Store of Arizona as the Retail Clerk and Manager. Glenn loved the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with his family, “His Tribe”.
Survivors include his wife; Joyce Arlene Tabor Gentry of Alvaton; one son; Wallace and wife Terry of Alvaton, four daughters; Dianna Hanes of Frankfort, Janice Patton of Bowling Green, Mona Beam and husband Larry of Alvaton, Rochelle Hoffman and husband Rod of Smiths Grove, three brothers; Billy Gentry and wife Marilyn of Florida, Charles Gentry of Bowling Green, Bobby Gentry of Tenn. three sisters; Laverne Kirby of Tenn. Sue Sharpe and husband Roy of Glasgow, Charlene Huff and husband Tom of Bowling Green; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013 at J.C. Kirby and Son Lover’s Lane Chapel, with burial in the Bowling Green Garden. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 3 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday after 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
