BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Lester Rudolph Lawrence, age 90, of Bowling Green, KY passed away Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at his home.
He was born in Reedyville, KY on June 22, 1922 to the Late Clester and Lillie Keown Lawrence Childers. He is also preceded in death by a brother Edwin C. Lawrence.
He was retired from the Bowling Green Fire Department after 22 years and served as Assistant Chief. He was the oldest living Fireman in Bowling Green. He was a member of the Lehman Ave. Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon for 29 years before resigning for health problems. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II from 1942 until 1946. He was also a retired Special Education School Bus Driver for Bowling Green Schools for 20 years. He was a Home Builder and Property Investor.
Donations may be made to the Lehman Ave Church of Christ or the Foundation Christian Academy.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeanetta Whalin Lawrence of Bowling Green. His son Perry Thomas Lawrence and his wife Robin of Bowling Green, His granddaughter Amber Leigh Lawrence of Bowling Green. His sister Ursa Lawrence Davis and her husband G.L. of Bowling Green. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all his loving care givers. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel with burial in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of J.C. Kirby and Son Funeral Chapels.
