Upon arrival, Troopers discovered that 15 rail cars had derailed and were on their sides.  All cars were empty and no one was injured.  The State Highway Department was notified and has a detour set up while CSX crews work on getting the cars back on the rails.  The roadway, between South Hopkins Middle School and KY 813, could be closed for approximately 18 hours.

Sergeant Dean Patterson, Sergeant Trent Weaver, Trooper Joseph Bartolotti, Trooper Nick Rice, and Trooper Nathan Craft responded to the scene.  They were assisted by the Hopkins County Emergency Management, South Hopkins Fire Department, The State Highway Department, and CSX.
