BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Avanelle Cherry Johnson, 83, of Bowling Green, KY passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Rosewood Healthcare.
She was the daughter of the late H.B. Cherry, Sr. and Anna Louise Cherry. She is also preceded in death by her late husband Charlie Johnson. Avanelle was an Anna, KY native, a retiree of Holley Carburetor, a past Seamstress from Fruit of the Loom, and a former member of Eastern Star. She loved her grandchildren, and great grandchildren dearly.
Survivors include a son: Johnny Johnson and wife Joyce, a daughter: Patricia Glenn and husband Lonnie all of Bowling Green, a sister: Rose Brown, Bowling Green, two grandchildren: Charles Allen, wife Amanda, Bowling Green, Charlene Durbin, husband Anthony, Brownsville, KY, two great grandchildren; Colton Durbin, and Emma Durbin, Brownsville, KY, and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by three brothers; Edward Hall Cherry, Norman “Dube” Cherry, and H. B. Cherry, Jr.
Visitation is Friday, March 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Funeral is at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with burial at Cherry’s Chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to J. C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapels, Inc.
