BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Altie Mae Butler Rives, age 91, of Bowling Green, KY passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the Medical Center.
She was born on May 15, 1921 in Hadley, KY to the late Edward N. and Ida Sublett Butler. She is the widow of Robert Moore Rives. She is also preceded in death by her two brothers: Howard S. and Elvis Homer Butler.
She was a retired Elementary School Teacher with Bowling Green City Schools. She received her B.S. and Masters in Education from Western KY University. She was a lifelong Member of Lewis Chapel United Methodist Church where she was active for many years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Warren County Leaders Association, Retired Education Association and the Disabled American Veterans Auxillary.
Survivors include her nieces: Kaye Butler in Lexington, KY and Marilyn Sechrest of Lewisburg, Tennessee; her nephew: Elvis H. Butler Jr. of Chapel Hill, Tennessee; a great niece: Kristina Ray and her husband Steven of Chapel Hill, Tennessee; and a special friend and care giver: Dana Hatter. She will be missed by many other friends.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel with burial in the Lewis Chapel Church Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel.
