Mrs. Tanner was a graduate of Bowling Green High School and obtained a data processing degree while living in New Jersey. She volunteered with the American Red Cross as a dental assistant on the military bases where her husband was stationed. She lived as a military officer’s wife. Her hobby was gardening and was a former member of the Bowling Green Women's Gardening Club. She was a member of the Fidelis Class at First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Colonel Eugene Potter Tanner, her parents, a sister, Evelyn Stahl Smith, and half-brother, Jesse Ray Stahl.
Mrs. Tanner is survived by a son; Gary Lee Tanner and his wife Juanita Tanner, a daughter, Laura Jean Tanner, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mildred McConnel, two brothers, Norman Stahl of Leitchfield, KY, Harold Stahl of Bowling Green, KY, a sister Reba Fox of New Jersey, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
