BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Sonja Kay Bates, 63, of Louisville, Kentucky joined her Heavenly Father at 9:55 a.m., May 30, 2013 at Baptist Healthcare in Louisville, Kentucky.
She was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky on December 18th, 1949, daughter of the late Marlon and Patsy Lowe Raymer. Sonja was a devoted daughter, faithful wife and a loving mother. Sonja loved people. She was outgoing and never met a person she couldn't talk to. Sonja's good humor and Christian faith live on in her family, whom she loved more than life itself. Her love knew no bounds and the charity she showed others was an example to all.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marlon Raymer, and son, Jordan Mills.
Sonja is survived by her mother, Patsy Raymer; husband, James Douglas Bates; daughter, Ashley Lowe Cassetty (Christopher); step daughter, Bethany Jean Bates; granddaughter, Sophia Lowe Cassetty; sister, Vanessa Williams (Gary); nieces, Mallorie Jagger's (Jimmy), Lauren Williams and Amanda Williams; great-nieces, Libby and Marlee. Sonja was part of a large family and is survived by many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funerals services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2013 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2013 and from 9:00 p.m. - 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
