BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Leo Edward Foshee, 98, passed away on June 2, 2013.
He was born in Stevenson, Alabama to the late William Lee and Ella Gentry Foshee. Leo spent the early years in areas of Tennessee, Georgia, and finally Bowling Green, KY where his father was the District Manager for Life and Casualty Insurance Co. While attending Western KY State College, he met the love of his life, Margaret Wright who he married on May 17, 1935. She preceded him in death in November 2003. Joining his father in the insurance business, Edward lived in various areas of KY before he was sent to Victoria as District Manager in 1953. The real estate business soon beckoned and he and Margaret eventually became owners of Foshee and Pepper, a business which continued more than 50 years, until his retirement in February, 2012. He was an early president of the Victoria Real Estate Board instrumental in the adoption of the MLS and was Salesman of the Year in 1962. In 2004 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Victoria Board of Realtors. Just one year after Margaret was likewise recognized posthumously. He was an active supporter of the numerous local charities and organizations and a member of the Church of Christ.
Also preceding him death was a brother: Lt. Col. (ret) Billy B. Foshee and sister-in-law: Mary Louis Wright of Smiths Grove, Ky.
Survivors include his sister: Margaret (Fonis) Payne of Columbus, Indiana.; sisters-in-law: Ina Ree Wright of Bowling Green, KY and Mildred Wright of Denton; nephews: Dave Foshee (Judi) of Houston, Brent (Carol) Holton, Brian (Donna) Holton, Jim (Karen) Wright and Frank (Linda) Wright all of Bowling Green, KY, Eddie (Diane) Wright of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lynn (Lori) Wright of Smiths Grove, KY; nieces: Sharon (Bill) Alexander of San Antonio, Lynn Holton of Bowling Green, KY, Jo (Billy) Mansfield of Smiths Grove, KY, Linda (Glenn) Johnson of Victoria, Texas, and Mary Ellen Clark of Houston, Texas. Several great nieces and nephews from three generations also survive.
Funeral services will be held in Bowling Green, KY on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery at the side of his wife. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11 a.m.
