BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Kenneth Hills, 93, of Bowling Green, KY passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 in Lexington, KY.
He was a son of the late George and Geraldine Marcum Hills and a twin brother to the late Kathlyn Hanks. In addition, he was preceded in death by siblings: Jenny, Sonny, David, and Jerry. Kenneth was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and retired from the United Postal Service after 40 years of service where he was also a supervisor. After his retirement he worked at J. C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel where he was made an in-house honorary funeral director.
In his later years, he along with his wife Frances, traveled extensively. They were members of The Presbyterian Church on State Street where Kenneth served on several committees including the care committee. He was quite proud to be the oldest member of the church.
Survivors include two sons: Larry Hills (Nelda) of Lexington, KY and Ron Hills of Texas; one daughter: Anita Hills of Washington; a foster son: Jerry Briggs (Cindy) of Texas and one brother: Marvin Hills (Minnie) of Bowling Green; nine grandchildren: Lara, Rachel, Ryan, Christopher, Caroline, Lindsey, Jordan, Russell, and Valerie; ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church with entombment to follow in the Bowling Green Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of The Bluegrass, Care Committee at The Presbyterian Church, or the Alzheimer’s Association-Greater KY and Southern Indiana Chapter in memory of the late Frances H. Hills.
Arrangements have been entrusted to J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
