BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Donald (Doc) Vinson, 70, of Rockfield passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 6:07 a.m. at the Medical Center.
He is the son of the late Samuel Vinson and Florence Decker Vinson. Doc was a member and deacon of Clearfork Baptist Church, the Goshen Lodge #73,a 50-year-member of the American Black & Tan Association where he also served three times as President.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patty Vinson, Rockfield, KY, three daughters: Lowanda DeShawn McDonald, husband Stephen L., Lawrenceburg, KY, Jennifer Denise Brown, husband Lyndon, Goodlettsville, TN, Donna Kay Basham, husband Kerry, Bowling Green, KY and a son Samuel Boyce Vinson, wife Carrie, Chattanooga, TN, two sisters: Rosa Lee Price, husband Billy, Auburn, KY, Mary Catherine Gregory, husband Earl, New Albany, IN and a son-in-law Robert Kiper, Lexington, KY.
Grandchildren include: Joshua Adam Kiper, wife Courtney, Kevin Wayne Kiper, Hannah Ray Brown, Payton Elizabeth Basham, Carly Ann Basham, Emma Grace Vinson, Elle Katherine Vinson and one step granddaughter; Stephanie Miller, husband Larry and two step great grandchildren; Aaron Miller and Emily Miller and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by three brothers: Glen Vinson, Herman Vinson and Guy Wayne Vinson, along with two sisters: Elise Wayne and Anne Lockhart.
Visitation is 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday, July 1 at J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel and on Tuesday, July 2 at Clearfork Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Clearfork Baptist Church Cemetery in Rockfield. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Clearfork Baptist Church Building Fund.
