BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - J.C. Phillips passed away Aug. 23, 2013, surrounded by his family at Greenwood Nursing & Rehab in Bowling Green at 6:24 p.m.
The Hart County native was the son of the late Damon and Margaret Ann Phillips. He was a member of Ladies Chapel United Methodist Church in Hart County. J.C. was a farmer for many years, raising grain, tobacco and cattle. He was well known for his ability to modify farm tractors and was often referred to as “The Tractor Puller.”
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorinda Phillips of Bowling Green; three children, Donna Harmon and husband Spike of Bowling Green, Brian Phillips and wife Rhonda of Paris, Texas, and Kimberly Phillips and fiancé Casey Link of Bowling Green; two sisters, Montena Murrey and Sandra Galloway and husband Ed, both of Glasgow; one brother, Donnie Phillips and wife Karen of Horse Cave; and stepmother LolaMae Phillips of Hardyville. Grandchildren include Katie Beth Harmon of Bowling Green and Alexandra Phillips and Victoria Phillips of Paris Texas, along with a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Randall Phillips.
Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel and from 9 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Bowling Green Gardens.
