BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Bernice Mercer Spears, 92, of Bowling Green, Ky passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at her residence at 5:30 a.m.
Bernice was born in Warren County on November 10, 1920. She was preceded in death by her husband: Dalton Spears; her parents: Tim and Ethel Davenport Mercer; one daughter: Terris Curl and her husband Richard; and three brothers: J. R., Nyle, and Wallace Mercer
Bernice was a housewife and member of Delafield Church of Christ. A past member of the Richardsville Homemakers, she was a volunteer nurse in Garden City, Michigan while she and her husband lived there.
Survivors include one sister: Wanda Lockhart of Bowling Green; one grandson: Michael Baker (Tammy) of Lowell, Arkansas; four step grandchildren: Kevin, Timothy, Robert, and Chris Curl; two great grandchildren: Samantha Ayala and Megan Dalati; four great-great grandchildren: Landon, Kailee, Jayden, and Evalyn; two sister-in-laws: Donnie Mercer and Ruth Mercer; and several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to her caregivers: Larry Mercer, Lisa Mercer, and Steve Lockhart.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. at J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bowling Green Gardens.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
