Myrtle May Warren, 101

LEXINGTON, Ky. -  Myrtle May Warren, 101, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2013. Born and raised in Lexington, Ky on June 29, 1912. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Barden and Cora Tucker Warren; brother, Walter B. Warren, Jr.; sisters, Mamie Tucker Warren and Jennie B. McConathy. She is survived by one sister, Urbana Warren Reynolds, Owensboro.

She received her education in the Fayette County schools and Fugazzi Business College. She served as the secretary for the Federal Land Bank Association for 32 years. She was a part time employee of Purcell’s Dept. store for a number of years and the Jack and Jill Children’s shop in Zandale for 16 years. She was a member of Hill-N-Dale Christian Church and a pianist for Providence Christian for more than 20 years. She had been a resident in her home on Arcadia Park since 1953 and resided at Mayfair Village and Mayfair Manor. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews, whom she served faithfully and unconditionally for most of her life; James 'Bud' N. (Mattie) Sanders, Robert (Sandy) McConathy, Sarah (Coburn) Miller, Joe B. (Phyllis) Warren, Judy (Tom) Marcum, Linda (Park) Reynolds Gentry and Sharon (Greg) Reynolds Duke. She was also preceded in death by a niece, Barbara Sanders Perry and a nephew, James E. McConathy.

To her family and many friends, she was 'auntie', a gracious, kind and patient lady who always offered her time and a cookie. She had a special gift for children, and loved and was loved abundantly by three generations of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tues at Milward-Southland. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery. She requested that her great nephews serve as pall bearers. Visitation will be 11 a.m. till service time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Providence Christian Church.
