BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - James L. ‘I’me’ Martin, 74, of Bowling Green, Ky died Dec. 23, 2013, at 4:10 p.m. at his residence.
James was the son of the late Loraine 'Gunny' and Marguerite Porter Martin. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Paul Henry Martin; sister Frannie Sue Koon; and special brother-in-law Mac McCloskey.
Jim moved to Bowling Green from Lenzburg, Ill., with General Motors. He worked there until he retired with 30 years' service. He loved to fish with his children and grandchildren and shared this love with them all. He blessed everyone with his time, kind words and gentle smile. If you ever met him, he was never forgotten.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Frances Martin; son Mike of Bowling Green; daughter Denise (David) Krantz of Bowling Green; grandchildren Dena Bibb (Ricky Jr.) of Smiths Grove, Dustin (Heather) Krantz of Scottsville and Kayce Sue Martin of Bowling Green; great-grandchildren James 'BentLee' Good, Kamarion Bibb, DeeVyne 'Little Frances' Bibb, all of Smiths Grove, and Nolin Krantz of Scottsville; and sisters Martha Laumbattus (James) and Millie Patton, both of New Athens, Ill., and Helen McCloskey of Darmstadt, Ill.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, with visitation from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Burial will be in Bowling Green Gardens.
