BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Beatrice 'Granny B' Cockrell, 83, of Bowling Green, Ky passed away peacefully at 3:31 p.m. Dec. 27, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born June 2, 1930, in Bowling Green to the late Henry Eldon and Edith Annie Jane Henderson Chaffin. She was the widow of Edmund Cockrell. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Janie Cockrell; and two sisters, Lawanda Thomas and Anna Pearl Hazel. She was a member of 10th Street Baptist Church and was a housewife and homemaker.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Lynn Massey and husband, Roy Dale, and Bonnie Ford, all of Franklin, and Kalee Clara Stilts and husband, Justin, who she raised, of Bowling Green; four sons, Don Hazel of Texas, Glen Hazel and wife, Lisa, and Dennis Cockrell, both of Bowling Green, and David Cockrell, of Scottsville; an adopted son, Terry Carroll of Bowling Green; a sister, Allyne Hicks of Scottsville; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The arrangements have been entrusted to the care of J.C. Kirby and Son Broadway Chapel.
