BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Arthur H. Oliphant, 86, of Bowling Green passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Alive Hospice in Madison, Tennessee after a brief illness.
Arthur was born February 4, 1927 in Dickson, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his wife: Vonell R. Oliphant; parents: Porter and Mattie K. Welch Oliphant; daughter: Deborah K. Oliphant; three sisters: Louise Marrs, Ina Wright, and Nannie Holland; and six brothers: Ray, J. P., Orsby, Ernest, Leonard, and Will Oliphant.
Arthur was a retired machinist, founder and owner Bowling Green Machine and Welding, and was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in the Korean War. He was also a member of the Church of Christ. He loved golfing, gardening, and feeding God’s little critters in his back yard. Arthur was a kind and caring person who never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his daughter: Dottie Babits (Cliff) of Hendersonville, Tennessee; two granddaughters: Rachel Parker and Amanda Hickman both of Nashville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation will be Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bowling Green Gardens.
