Joe Harlan Gipson, 82, of Hanson, formerly of Slaughters, KY

HANSON, KY - Joe Harlan Gipson, 82, of the Western KY Veterans Center in Hanson, formerly of Slaughters, KY, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at Baptist Health in Madisonville. He was born April 9, 1930 to the late Willis Herbert Gipson and Eula Lee Rideout. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Wanda June Barnett, along with three sisters.

Mr. Gipson was a retired iron worker from Local 103 in Evansville, IN. He was a member of Zion Brick Baptist Church in Slaughters, along with the Slaughters Masonic Lodge and American Legion.

He is survived two daughters, Freida Linville of Earlington, KY and Mary Knox of Bonneau, SC; one son, Harlan Gipson of Nebo; one sister, Juanita Egli of Evansville, and nine grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Chaplain Sam Beeny officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington.

Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday and after 11:00 A.M. until the service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Center Activities Fund. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
