backtoschool 300HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (3/22/13) – The Pennyrile Allied Community Services (PACS-HCAC) of Madisonville has started their Back to School Program.
 
For over 50 years, the PAC-HCAC has helped cloth children in the community. “Libby Melton started this program over fifty years ago, first in her basement, then in a church basement and after she out grew that, she moved into where we are now.” stated Bobbi Wilcox, Director of PACS-HCAC. Last year they were able to exceed their goal and hoping this year they can do the same. Relying mostly on donations, this program is not federal or locally funded. Wilcox gets the word out by social networking, mass mailings, news media and radio stations.
 
This year’s goal is to raise $20,000. In the past, the PACS staff have gone and purchased all the clothing. This year, they are going to do something a little different. Since the schools all have different dress codes, families will be given a $50.00 gift card to the Vanity Fair Outlet Mall in Hanson. That way parents can purchase exactly what their child needs for school.
 
Anyone who is interested in making donations can go to, www.pacs-ky.org, click donate, then click Hopkins County Assistant Center. This is very similar to PayPal. You can also mail a check to PAC HCAC P.O. Box 427 Madisonville, KY. 42431 or PACS P.O. Box 549 Hopkinsville, KY 42241 ATT: Molly Thomas.
 
Pre-registration starts Jun 1, 2013 and donations are due by July 19th, 2013.
