WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. (4/3/13) - On the evening of Thursday March 28, Webster County Sheriff’s Department’s Captain Donald Jones had just returned to his cruiser from working a traffic stop on the Pennyrile Parkway when Webster County Dispatch advised deputies to be on the lookout for a stolen 2011 Dodge 350 with Tennessee plates.
Nine minutes later Captain Jones noticed a vehicle matching the general description heading northbound.
“By the time I confirmed the plate number with dispatch, I was entering Henderson County,” said Jones. “I followed the vehicle and notified Henderson Dispatch.”
As they neared Henderson, the Henderson County Sheriff's Department joined the chase and attempted to make a traffic stop. The vehicle refused to stop and was pursued onto US 41 at speeds of up to 70 mph.
At the intersection of US 41 and Marywood Drive the vehicle was forced to stop by traffic and Henderson Deputies along with Captain Jones surrounded the vehicle.
The driver refused to excite the vehicle and had to be removed by force.
The driver was Ralph C. Baier, 46 of Rutherford, TN. In addition with the theft of the truck, Baier was wanted for attempting to run over a Rutherford Police Officer in making his escape.
He was charged with numerous felonies and is currently house at the Henderson County Jail.
