firereports2011new c 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/2/13) – On Thursday, May 1, the Madisonville Fire Department (MFD) reported three instances of activity within the Madisonville city limits.

At approximately 1:03 PM, MFD received an alarm from Central Dispatch for an R.V. on fire in front of Hanson Elementary School, 121 Eastlawn Rd. While responding, Central advised that there were some trees on fire also. Arriving on scene, fire crew found a fully involved recreational vehicle. Firefighters were advised by a person on scene that the vehicle had a full propane tank on board. 300 feet of 5 inch supply line was deployed to secure a water supply. Fire crew deployed a 150' and the 200' preconnected 1 3/4" hoselines to extinguish the fire. Class A structural firefighting foam was used as well. Firefighters used a pike pole and a pick axe to overhaul the recreational vehicle to ensure the fire was extinguished. Another nearby vehicle, a Ford Expedition, received heat damage from the fire. The heat damage involved an emblem and the paint on the rear of the Expedition. No further action needed all fire units returned to quarters.

At approximately 11:32 AM, MFD received an alarm from Central Dispatch to assist M.C.A.S. with a medical emergency at 256 Noel Place, apartment 32. This incident was in the area of a motor vehicle accident that fire units were already assigned to. Fire personnel located the apartment and assisted the occupant from her electric lift chair, which was not working due to the loss of electrical power because of the vehicle accident. After assisting the occupant to a safe seated position no other assistance was needed. All fire personnel returned to the motor vehicle accident scene.

At approximately 11:16 AM, MFD received an alarm from Central Dispatch to respond to a motor vehicle accident with possible injuries at the intersection of W. Noel and Pride Ave. Central also advised that there was an electrical pole involved in the accident and the pole was on top of a vehicle. Upon arrival fire personnel found two vehicles in the roadway with all occupants out of the vehicles. Medical Center Ambulance Service arrived on scene at the same time as fire personnel. Engine-17 crew assisted the ambulance crew with initial patient assessment. One driver was transported by ambulance to Baptist Health and the other signed a dry run form and was not transported. Fire crew applied oil dry to the roadway where the fluids were leaking from both vehicles. Madisonville Municipal Utilities responded to the incident to restore power to area and replace the broken utility pole. Atmos Gas Company also arrived on scene to assist M.M.U. in locating any underground natural gas line prior to setting a new utility pole. Once the utility pole was removed from the vehicle, and both vehicles were removed from the scene, M.M.U. took control of the incident and all fire units cleared the scene and returned to quarters.
