Bennie Lewis Bright, 47, of Dixon, KY

DIXON, Ky. – Bennie Lewis Bright, 47, of Dixon, KY, formerly of Chanute, Kansas passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN on May 5, 2013.

Bennie was a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and a US Army Veteran. He was President of the Webster Co. Firefighters Association and also President of the Dixon Freedom Festival. He served on the Dixon Volunteer Fire Department and served on the Webster Co. Search and Rescue.

Bennie was preceded in death by two sons, Darren Bright and Shawn Stipp.

Survivors include his wife of nine years, Shannon Bright of Dixon, KY; his parents Fred and Frankie Sue Bright of Chanute, KS; five daughters, Deedra Andrews of Independence, KS, Samantha Stipp, Toni Bright, Britney Bright, and Heather Bright all of Dixon, KY; two sons, Scott Bright and Dusty Bright both of Dixon, KY; one brother, Eddie Bright of Derby, KS; one sister, Tammi Davidson of Chanute, KS; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 11, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Rev. Justin Cardwell will officiate.

Visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home. Services will also be held at Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel in Chanute, KS on Monday May 13, 2013 at 1 p.m.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute Kansas.
