A native of Providence, KY he was born on December 10, 1940 the son of the late Albert Dennis Walker & Helen Lee Ramsey Walker. He was a longtime teacher and coach in the Christian County School System. Prior to teaching he was the Director of Education for the Kentucky State Prison System and District manager for Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Co. He was a charter member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Mr. Walker was a member of the Kansas State University Football Team where he was a starter for four years. He received a masters degree in psychology from Kansas State and later earned a second masters degree in education from Murray State University.

He is survived by his wife, Dr. Sharon Walker of Hopkinsville. Four sons, Phillip Boyd-Browning Walker, of the home. Cory Shea Walker of Hopkinsville, KY. Phillip Louis Walker & Jed Ramsey Walker, both of Kuttawa, KY. One daughter, Reagan Renee Walker, of Washington, DC. Three grandchildren, Ramsey Wilson Walker, Shelby Foster Walker, and Jackson Thomas Walker.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Brother Robert Stinson and Rev. Bob Sipper officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery in Eddyville, KY. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church.

The family requests donations be made to the Hopkinsville-Christian Humane Society or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
