GPD Shop with a Cop Needs More Funds

SHOP COP 300GREENVILLE, Ky. (12/11/13) — The Greenville Police Department is attempting to make Christmas a little brighter for children who may not receive any gifts without your help.

The Shop With A Cop Program begins at 9 a.m. Dec. 14 at Uncle Lee's, at 820 North Main in Greenville.

Officer Wes Miller of GPD told Surfky New that last year the event raised more than $1,000 in cash donations to purchase gifts, but so far this year only $500 has been raised.

"We are very concerned that there will be many local children who will go home empty handed if we do not raise the additional $500 by Saturday," Miller said. "The children are selected by the Board of Education Family Resource Center to verify their financial need. We prefer cash donations so each child can purchase a gift they really want. However, we have not received as many donations as expected this year. If you would like to help, please contact the Greenville Police Department now at (270) 338-3133. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and will help put a smile on a young child's face this Christmas."
