OWENSBORO, Ky. (3/21/14) – Being involved with the Chamber of Commerce is a great way to raise awareness among other businesses about the company you own or work for, and can help develop professional relationships with other businesses in the area.
That’s the advice of Stephanie Stratton, who was named the March Ambassador of the Month at the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce breakfast on March 6.
Stratton told SurfKY News she has been involved with the Chamber for the last five years, and has continued to serve as an ambassador through jobs with three different companies. She currently works as the marketing representative for Disaster Team and Building by Wayne Baker, located in Owensboro.
Stratton said the main purpose of being an ambassador, for her, is the opportunity to represent the company “beyond marketing.”
“The Chamber presented me with the idea and I’ve been doing it for the last five years,” Stratton said when asked why she became an ambassador for the Chamber. “I loved that each business I worked for supported me in being an ambassador.”
She said she has seen a direct benefit from ambassador work, when business people she has met at ribbon cuttings have called her about her company’s services.
Currently, Stratton works with Disaster Team, an Owensboro-based company specializing in fire restoration and emergency flood service. It also hosts a “content cleaning company,” a component Stratton said is fairly unique to the United States, as there are only 20 in existence nationwide.Chamber Ambassador of the Month is determined on a series of criteria, including attendance at ribbon cuttings, participation at Chamber functions, and time spent meeting with businesses both in the Chamber as well as non-members.
