GOLDEN POND, Ky. (3/28/14) — Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area has released two prospectuses for farming crops and hay as part of open lands management in Land Between The Lakes.
Interested parties may view the prospectus at www.lbl.org/WorkingTogether.html and scroll to the bottom of that page, or contact Gary Hawkins at (270) 924-2046 for more information.
Bid proposal packages will be accepted until May 13, 2014.
Interested parties can bid on one or more options.
The cropland prospectus has two options; one north and one south, and the hayfields prospectus has six options; three north and three south. Prospectus maps will be available for reference at the Administrative Office and Golden Pond Visitor Center, or can be viewed online at the link above. The length of the new Special Use Permits will be 10 years (Jan. 1, 2015 to Dec. 31, 2024).
The open lands management objective at Land Between The Lakes provides for:
- Wildlife habitat diversity supporting hunting and wildlife viewing opportunities at minimal costs.
- Agricultural practices demonstrated through cooperative management of croplands and hayfields.
- Stewardship projects, with conservation organizations, that help Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area open land management.
