Henderson County Woman Sentenced to 125 Months in Prison for Bank Robbery

FBI with BG 300HENDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (4/21/14) — A Henderson County, Kentucky woman was sentenced in U.S. District Court this week by Chief Judge Joseph H. McKinley, Jr. to 125 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for robbing a bank and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, announced David J. Hale, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky.

Meiesha R. Sharp, 25, of Henderson, was sentenced after pleading guilty to brandishing a .380 caliber pistol while robbing the Fifth Third Bank located in Henderson of $29,068.95 on June 29, 2012. According to the charges, Sharp put the life of another person in jeopardy by the use of a firearm. In return for the guilty plea, the United States agreed to drop four additional charges in a superseding indictment. There was no order of restitution, because the stolen money was recovered by the Henderson Police Department. Sharp was ordered to remain in custody. There is no parole from federal prison.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Thomas W. Dyke and Sungtae Kang and was investigated by the Henderson Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation .
