James Springfield, 74, of Sebree

SEBREE, Ky. – James Springfield, 74, of Sebree died on May 14,2014 at Redbanks Colonial Terrace in Sebree. He was born on October, 17, 1939 in Sebree to the late John Ellis Springfield and Clara Brooks Springfield. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and a member of the American Legion Post 243 in Sebree. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Madisonville. He enjoyed watching horse racing, playing cards, and watching old western movies.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Daniels and Ruth Hancock; four brothers, J.E. Springfield Jr., Eddie Springfield, David Springfield, and Herbert Springfield.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Burnetta Buchanan Springfield of Sebree; five children, Jim (Karen) Springfield of Sebree, Amy (Kip) Springfield of Fayetteville, N.C., Gayla Sorrels of Slaughters, Rodney Shanks of Slaughters, and Dennis Shanks of Sebree; one brother, Frank Springfield of Sebree, nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Sebree First Baptist Church with Bro. Bob Hardison officiating. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Sebree. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church and on Saturday 10:00 a.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Anthony’s Hospital.
