Passport Health Plan Announces Contract with Owensboro Health Regional Hospital

passport-logoLOUISVILLE, Ky. (7/9/14)  Passport Health Plan announced that they have contracted with Owensboro Health Regional Hospital to provide services to members of Passport Health Plan.

Owensboro Health is licensed for 477 beds, has nearly 3,400 staff members and serves the medical needs of nine counties in western Kentucky and two counties in southern Indiana.

“We have a lot of respect for Passport’s 16 years of experience in Medicaid managed care and look forward to building a successful partnership to care for the people we serve,” said Philip Patterson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

According to Mark B. Carter, Chief Executive Officer of Passport Health Plan, “Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and Passport Health Plan not only share a mission to improve the health of those we serve, both strive to collaborate and ensure innovative health care provision.”

Owensboro Health is a non-profit health care system with a mission to heal the sick and to improve the health of the communities it serves. Owensboro Health has been recognized by Healthgrades as a Distinguished Hospital for Clinical Excellence (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) and America’s 100 Best Hospital (2013, 2014). The system includes an acute care hospital; a medical group; numerous clinics and diagnostic centers; wound healing centers; a cancer center; home care services; and the Healthpark, a medical-based fitness center. Passport Health Plan is a provider-sponsored. non-profit, community-based Medicaid health plan that has been contracted with Kentucky’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services to administer Medicaid benefits since 1997. The Plan is sponsored by the University of Louisville Physicians, University Medical Center, Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence, Norton Healthcare, and the Louisville Primary Care Association which includes the Federally Qualified Health Centers (Family Health Centers and Park DuValle) and the Louisville Metro Department of Health and Wellness.
