OWENSBORO, Ky. (7/31/14) — RIVERARTES, an exhibition of 75 works of public art by sculptors of national and regional prominence, is designed to celebrate the vitality of Owensboro, enhance its creative placemaking efforts and further establish it as a cultural tourism destination.

The exhibition is scheduled for 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., Saturday Aug. 23 at 901 Frederica Street, Owensboro, Ky. The guest speaker will be Mayor Ron Payne. The event is sponsored by Owensboro Health.

The monumental works of art in the exhibition are available for lease. The project follows a national model for collaborative community efforts involving stakeholders focused on the aesthetic enhancement of urban environments. Potential sponsors for leased sculpture include local governments, businesses and individuals, foundations, granting agencies and civic organizations.

Opportunities abound in Owensboro’s new riverfront for the placement of public art, a visual additive creating an atmosphere of fun, excitement and celebration.
