WEBSTER COUNTY, KY- Douglas Wayne Lovan, 69, Providence, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at Regional Medical in Madisonville.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of VFW Post No. 5484 in Providence and member of Jachin Lodge No. 739 in Clay. He was a coal miner at Peabody Coal Company.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Shelia Lovan; one daughter, Charlotte Hogan of Providence; four sons, Dennis Wayne Lovan, James Lovan and Ryan Lovan, all of Clay, and Jeremy Powell of Dixon; four sisters, Fedelia Cain, Nancy Parker and Martha Kelley, all of Clay, and Teresa Thompson of Wheatcroft, Ky.; one brother, Keith Lovan of Evansville; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay. Brother Laddie Pride will officiate. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery near Clay, where military rites will be conducted.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with Masonic rites to be conducted at 6 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to a favorite charity.
