GREENVILLE, Ky. (8/25/14) — Job Corps celebrated its 50th anniversary this past Wednesday Aug. 20.  Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear signed a proclamation celebrating the Job Corp's anniversary and its success.  Greenville Mayor Eddie DeArmond also signed a proclamation celebrating the successes of the Earl C. Clements Job Corp Center in Greenville.

The proclamations kick off a yearlong celebration of the Job Corp which was established by Lyndon B. Johnson.  The Earl C. Clements Job Corp opened in Greenville in 1974 and focused on training heavy equipment operators.

Its student population started small but has grown to currently having 343 students and 100 employed staff.  Events will be planned for every month over the next year with a special finale event in April.
