WEBSTER COUNTY,KY - James Howard (Jamie) McKinsey, 85 of Providence, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at his home.
He was born on Sept. 7, 1926 in Providence to Ed and Lillie Watson McKinsey and attended schools in Providence.
He served in the US Army during WW II in the Pacific Theatre mainly in the Philippines.
After his discharge he worked for a time with the United Auto Workers in St. Louis and married Genevieve Sanders after returning to Providence.
Jamie was a coal miner most of his life and a very proud member of the United Mine Workers. His wife Genevieve passed away in 1990 and Jamie and Mary Lindsey were married in Providence in June of 1992.
He is survived by his wife Mary of Providence, a step son Bud Lindsey of Mississippi.
A grandson Shannon Lindsey and a great granddaughter Mary Alicesyn Lindsey and several loving nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters Alice Marie and Betty Lou and three brothers, Eddie Lee, Hershel and Bobby McKinsey.
Jamie was a member of Second Baptist Church, a life member of the Providence VFW and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 18 at 11 AM at Jones & Erdman in Providence with Bro. Fred Harrison officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
Visitation is on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM and from 9 AM to service time on Friday at the funeral home
