Carvel Powell, 90, Sebree

obit13SEBREE — Carvel Leo Powell, 90, Sebree, passed away at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born in Union County on Jan. 15, 1921. He spent most of his life in Webster County and was a resident of the Petersburg community. He was a retired cattle and grain farmer and a school bus driver for Webster County for 35 years. He also worked for the Webster County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service in Dixon for 20 years. He was a member of the Sebree Mission. He loved his church very much.

He was preceded in death by one son, Randy Powell; his parents, Noah and Virgie Powell; two brothers, Eugene Powell and Paul Houston Powell; and one sister, Gracie Powell.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Evelyn Powell; one daughter, Ann Chandler and her husband, Donald, of Sebree; one son, Donnie Powell of Robards; three grandchildren, LeAnn Alstadt and her husband, J.J., of Sebree, Monica Duncan and her husband, Tim, of Dixon, and Jeff Powell of Sebree; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel. Brothers Mark Compton and Thornton Stanley will officiate. Burial will be Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Sebree Mission.

Pallbearers will be Donald Chandler, Donnie Powell, Jeff Powell, Tim Duncan, J.J. Alstadt, Keith Tapp, Jaiden Powell and Roger Williams.
